Maggie Nowinski

I’m thrilled to have been invited to participate in the Fun Sized Public Art Festival. Throughout my work, I’ve been fascinated by the relationship between scale and perception—how looking closely at something small can create a surprising sense of expansion. My drawings and installations intentionally blur scale, merging the biological and the geological, hybridizing human, plant, and animal forms into speculative landscapes.

The cairn has become an important metaphor in my practice, representing both orientation and disorientation, and our desire to find our way through moments of transition, growth, and loss. Repetitive lines record the passage of time, sometimes literally mapping surfaces with topographic contours.
